About Dyslexia

Neurodiversity is a relatively new term. It helps to promote the view that neurological differences are to be recognised and respected as any other human variation. It is used to counter negative social connotations that currently exist and to make it easier for people of all neurotypes to contribute to the world as they are, rather than attempting to think or appear more “typically”.

Neurodiversity encompasses all specific learning difficulties (SpLD) many of which co-occur or overlap. The following Specific Learning Difficulties that can often co-occur with Dyslexia are:

  • Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADD/ADHD).Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Developmental language Disorder (DLD)

  • Dyscalculia and Maths difficulties

  • Dyspraxia (DCD)

  • Visual difficulties.

We have compiled some useful information about how to spot dyslexia and the advantages of early intervention. We’ve also created a list of some of the famous names from the worlds of science, business and the arts who have reached the top of their game, while also having dyslexia.
